Here is a great Kansas City Style barbecue sauce I came up with. This sauce has no HFCs, no tomatoes and loads of flavor.
1 10oz bag of raspberries
1 10oz bag of blueberries
2 garlic cloves
4 Tablespoons chili powder
3 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons celery salt
1 Tablespoon mustard powder
1 Tablespoon black pepper
2 Cups broth (chicken broth or beef broth)
2 tablespoons bacon grease
1 Tablespoon Liquid smoke
Dice up the onion and garlic then sauté them in the bacon grease for about 5 minutes or until nice and soft. Mix all the other ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth.
Pour the blended ingredients in the the pan once the garlic and onions are soft. Let simmer until the sauce is reduced to the consistency that you like. I prefer to let it simmer at least an hour, it thickens and the flavors mix together just perfect.
Store this sauce in the refrigerator about a week or freeze it.
